NEW! Listening to the Land: Deepening Nature Play Through Land-Based and Place-Based Practices

This workshop invites early childhood educators to deepen their understanding of land-based and place-based learning as vital components of high-quality early learning. Grounded in current research and best practices, participants will explore how children form relationships, knowledge, and identity through their encounters with the natural world. Through reflective dialogue, hands-on examples, and inquiry-based approaches, educators will consider how the land acts as teacher, how nature play supports holistic development, and how responsive environments nurture children’s natural dispositions to learn.

Together, we will examine ways to honour place, culture, and ecological relationships in early childhood settings and reflect on our responsibility—as educators and caretakers of the land—to nurture children’s connections with the natural world. Educators will leave with practical strategies, inspiration, and renewed confidence to weave place-based and land-centered learning into their daily practice.
