SUMMARY:Which Way to the Brain? Brain Smart Strategies to Support Early Learning and Development
DESCRIPTION:Which Way to the Brain? Brain Smart Strategies to Support Early Learning and Development \nPlay and the brain! They weave together in an intricate pattern that lay the foundation to how children learn\, grow and thrive! Understanding how the brain works when engaged in play is probably one of the coolest things I’ve learned as an early childhood educator! It’s amazing to see how we can light up the brain through play experiences. It’s not about lighting up just one part of the brain\, it’s about lighting up the whole brain! Let’s get our geek on and learn how we can engage the brain through play! We’ll start off by discussing some key findings in brain development in the early years and how we can support each of these findings through our interactions with children and by creating a responsive play environment. We continue on our brain play journey as we unlock key strategies to promote brain development that are sure to inspire us to play even more! Share your inspirations. Share the way your brain plays! And discover the possibilities of play! \nObjectives: \n\nIdentify the key findings in early brain development and research.\nIncrease understanding of how play contributes to brain development.\nIdentify the brain smart strategies and how they impact children’s learning and development\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding available to eligible participants.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:HR Policies that Inspire Early Childhood Leaders (3 hours)
DESCRIPTION:HR Policies that Inspire Early Childhood Leaders (3 hours)\nOnline Community Leadership Webinar: REVISED DATES! \nNEW DATES! 3 Part Series (3 hours total): \n\nSeptember 6\, 2023     12:00-1:00PM\nNEW TIME! September 13\, 2023     1:30-2:30PM\nSeptember 20\, 2023     12:00-1:00PM\n\nSummary \nA comprehensive\, up to date\, well circulated and well understood HR Manual is a key component to operating a successful childcare program.  This need is particularly acute today as programs struggle to hire\, train and retain qualified Educators.  If a program is experiencing high turnover\, Educators could lack an understanding of what the HR policies are and where they can be found.  If leaders are unaware of employment standards and/or their own policies\, they could unknowingly be mistreating Educators which can lead to burnout\, low morale\, higher turnover and possibly legal action.  For all of these reasons and more\, childcare leaders need to ensure that they have comprehensive HR policies that are organized\, updated\, and aligned with both childcare regulations and employment standards. \nObjectives: \n\nHave participants take inventory of their HR policies and ensure that they are organized into an HR Manual\nEnsure that the program’s HR policies address and comply with AB childcare regulations and provincial employment standards\nHave participants review a best practices list of HR policies for childcare program and determine if additional policies should be added to their manual\nProvide participants with sample policies for review\, modification and/or inclusion in their HR Manual and a framework for transforming their HR Manual into an online\, on-demand training tool that is regularly updated and accessed by all Educators\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nPD Funding eligible Level 3 educators.\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nFee includes all 3 sessions; only 1 registration required for all 3 sessions.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. Please click the link 10 minutes before the workshop begins to join in.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nE-transfers to be sent to tina@inspiredmindsecc.ca\n\nZoom link is included in your ticket email. SUMMARY:Beautiful Oopsies: Exploring the Creativity of Open-Ended Art Experiences
DESCRIPTION:Beautiful Oopsies: Exploring the Creativity of Open-Ended Art Experiences \nCreativity is intelligence having fun! Alberta Einstein had it right with his quote on creativity. Children are natural artists\, as all their masterpieces are a visual representation of how they see the world around them. Let us foster this self expression through open-ended creative art experiences! For children\, the focus on art is the process of creativity\, not the end result. This is what our focus of this session is all about…the process of play with art (not crafts). Let’s dive into the creative world of what art is for children and how we can be more responsive to their creative needs and expressions. Say good bye to those handprint crafts and cut out projects that take us hours to prepare. Open ended art is about getting messy! It’s about exploring with all our senses and having a creative outlet for thoughts\, ideas and emotions. As early childhood educators\, it’s our role to provide materials and a space for creativity and inspiration\, so the children can be mighty artists! So\, let’s explore how we can do this and ensure that children have the opportunity to enjoy the creative journey and show us their colorful world! \nObjectives: \n\nDefine creativity & art\nDifferences between crafts and open-ended art\nCreate a responsive curriculum and environment that nurtures children’s creative interests\nSpark your creativity for open ended art experiences\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding available to eligible participants.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop.
