SUMMARY:Inspiring Curiosity to Play: Creating Provocations and Invitations to Play!
DESCRIPTION:ONLINE Community Webinar\nInspiring Curiosity to Play: Creating Provocations and Invitations to Play! \nHow do we create an environment that extends on children’s natural curiosity and interests in the classroom? How can we introduce new ideas\, based on our observations and our understanding of possibilities for children? What activities can we do that promote play? Rooted in the emergent curriculum approach\, creating provocations and invitations are a part of how we can build an environment that stimulates curiosity\, exploration and encourage independent divergent and critical thinking. Instead of providing activities that focus on specific outcomes or learning skills\, we provide provocations to stimulate a wholistic approach to playful learning. In doing so\, we need to be responsive to the children’s interests\, extend their learning and inspire curiosity to explore. Learn how to showcase these amazing displays and invite deep thinking and deep play to stimulate and build upon your children’s interests and sense of wonder. \nOverview \n\nDefining Provocations to Play\nFoundations to Provocations\nInspirations for Provocations\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding available to eligible participants.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:Conflict Management Strategies for Leaders (3 hours)
DESCRIPTION:Conflict Management Strategies for Leaders (3 hours)\nOnline Community Leadership Webinar: \n3 Part Series (3 hours total): \n\nApril 5\, 2023     12:00-1:00PM\nApril 12\, 2023     12:00-1:00PM\nApril 19\, 2023     12:00-1:00PM\n\nSummary \nManaging conflict well is a key skill for all staff in the early learning field and especially leaders.  According to the Society for Human Resource Management: “Workplace conflict is inevitable when employees of various backgrounds and different work styles are brought together for a shared business purpose.  Conflict can—and should—be managed and resolved.” \nThere are several negative effects of unresolved conflict in the childcare field.  These effects include low morale\, absenteeism\, turnover\, decreased productivity and strained relationships between staff members and with the leadership team.  In addition\, conflict is sensed by the children and we know that this negativity affects their growth\, development\, enjoyment and safety while at the Centre.  Conflict between the staff and families is stressful and can lead to turnover of both staff and families.  Finally\, the leaders at the Centres who are required to navigate through the conflict can be left with feelings of guilt\, anger and anxiety long after the conflict is gone.  Thus\, it’s very important for leaders to have tools to ensure that past conflict does not negatively them both on and off the job. \nObjectives: \n\nUnderstand the 5 point Conflict Management Framework\nLearn and practice the CARE Approach to Conflict Management\nLearn how to turn complaints into constructive feedback\nLearn the importance of self-care in the midst of conflict and long after it’s resolved\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nPD Funding available to eligible Level 3 educators.\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:IN-PERSON! Look at Me Grow! Celebrating Children’s Learning Through Learning Stories\, Portfolios & More!
DESCRIPTION:IN-PERSON COMMUNITY WORKSHOP\nLook at Me Grow! Celebrating Children’s Learning Through Learning Stories\, Portfolios & More! \n@Spruce Grove Play School\, Spruce Grove \nIt’s exciting to watch children learn and grow! Educators are excited. Families are excited. Children are excited. So how do we share this process of learning and development with our children\, families and community and help make learning visible? This session takes a look at the importance of assessing children’s growth using innovative and practical documentation methods. Gone are the days of ‘report cards’ and ‘checklists’ for assessment. Educators can now find deeper meaning and value by creating documentation\, such as learning stories and creative portfolios\, that capture children’s learning through observations and the process of play. Let’s turn this time consuming\, administrative task into a practice that is helpful\, reflective and fun! \nObjectives: \n\nIdentify the importance of documenting and assessing children’s learning\nReview the various types of assessment used in early learning\nUnderstand the value of learning stories\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 48 hours in advance!\nPD Funding Available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to participants.\nNo refunds\, credits\, exchanges or substitutes. If you are unable to make the workshop and wish to send an alternative person\, 48 hours notice is required to transfer the registration.\nMinimum workshop size is 10 registrations. Maximum 30 registrations.\nIn the unlikely situation that Inspired Minds ECC Consulting Inc. needs to cancel the workshop\, we will give all registered participants 24 hour notice. Refunds or credits will be given to registered participants in these situations only.
