SUMMARY:Redefining Circle Time! Moving Beyond Adult-Directed Group Times with Young Children
DESCRIPTION:Redefining Circle Time! Moving Beyond Adult-Directed Group Times with Young Children\nA time to connect. A time to feel a sense of belonging. A time to share stories. A time to learn about each other. This is what circle times in early childhood should be about. Gathering times and sharing circles are a part of many cultural and family traditions as family and friends come together to connect and share stories. Gone are the outdated practices of calendar time and singing weather songs as the focus of circle times in early childhood programs where educators instruct and direct children. Instead\, let’s make gathering time meaningful and relevant to the children in our care. In this session\, we will come together to discuss a variety of ways to change an adult-directed circle time to an opportunity to connect\, reflect and share. Gathering times can be a part of our daily routine or a spontaneous story time that children will remember forever. By being intentional in our group gathering practices and reflecting on our ‘why’\, we can create a gathering time that truly embraces the image of the child and helps children learn about themselves\, others\, and their community. Let’s build community together! \nObjectives:\n\nRedefining circle time as a child-responsive experience\nUnderstanding and respecting the cultural values of group gathering\nStrategies to improve meaningful and interactive group gathering\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. Please click the link 10 minutes before the workshop begins to join in.\nE-transfers to be sent to tina@inspiredmindsecc.ca\n\nZoom link is included in your ticket email. SUMMARY:No Waiting! Get Them Shaking: Exploring and Extending Engaging Transitions
DESCRIPTION:No Waiting! Get Them Shaking: Exploring and Extending Engaging Transitions\n\n\nI can see it like it was just yesterday…the children are climbing over each other as we help them put on their snow pants\, jackets and boots to get them ready to go outside. It’s a nightmare come true! Wait! This was yesterday! The reality sets in….transitions are HARD! There’s no doubt about it. Whether it’s the infamous ‘clean up’ time\, going outside or coming back in\, moving from lunch to nap time or helping those new children adjust to group care…it’s a stressful time for many of us. It doesn’t need to be. When we take the time to stop\, be present and be intentional\, we can minimize the stress of transitions not only for us but also for the children in our care. Children are not designed to sit and wait\, so we cannot expect them to do so! What can we do to keep children engaged during transitions? To help this be a time of connections instead of directions. To help them navigate their own transitions successfully and with confidence. Let’s get them moving! Let’s get them engaged! Let’s connect. Join me as we fill your transitional toolkit with strategies and activities that are sure to capture the attention and imagination of those little ones who struggle with transitions. We will look at our daily routine schedules to reflect on how they impact our transitional times. And of course\, we will sing\, play and dance with some NEW transitional ideas that you can add immediately to your practice. Let’s do this! \nObjectives:\n\nEstablish an understanding of why effective transitions are important to child development.\nIdentify strategies that support the 3 phases of effective transitions – before\, during and after.\nDevelop a daily visual routine for children to help them with transitions.\nLearn new transition songs\, games and tools to use during transitions.\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:Adventures of Play! Exploring Risky Play
DESCRIPTION:Adventures of Play! Exploring Risky Play\nTaking risk is a necessary part of play. It’s part of how children assess what they can do\, what challenges them and what to leave until a later date to try. However\, many of us face obstacles\, barriers and reluctance to accept this into children’s play. Join me as we discuss what risky play is\, how it promotes development and how to overcome those barriers and obstacles. Let’s take a look at all the different levels of risk children engage in during their play and how we can help provide an environment that allows children to explore naturally – with risk! \nObjectives:\n\nDefining Risky Play / Adventurous Play\nDevelopmentally Appropriate Practices with Risky Play\nFacilitating Risky Play\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:Caring Connections: Interactions that Matter
DESCRIPTION:Caring Connections: Interactions that Matter\nThe comfort of an encouraging smile. The caring reassurance after a fight with a friend. The excitement of co-celebration as they discovery a new skill. How we interact with children has a huge impact on children’s growth and development\, not only their social emotional development\, but also in their abilities to problem solve\, resolve conflict\, and take risk because they feel safe! Children rely on positive\, supportive and encouraging adults in their live to show them they are respected\, safe and loved. This type of interaction doesn’t happen just by supervising\, asking questions or giving direction. It comes from a deep connection between the adult and the child. A connection that takes time to build and takes intentional interactions. Let’s learn some strategies of how to build this connection with ALL children – from the ones we struggle with to the ones who love us the moment they come through our doors.  Understanding what each child needs to feel a connection will help us establish that bond with each child and continue to see that relationship blossom. Connection is key! \nObjectives\n\nDefining Caring Connections\nIdentify the Importance of Connecting with Children\nKey Benefits of Establishing Connections with Children\nIdentify Strategies of how to Build Caring Connection\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:Beautiful Oopsies! Exploring the Creativity of Open-Ended Art Experiences
DESCRIPTION:Beautiful Oopsies! Exploring the Creativity of Open-Ended Art Experiences\nCreativity is intelligence having fun! Albert Einstein had it right with his quote on creativity. Children are natural artists\, as all their masterpieces are a visual representation of how they see the world around them. Let us foster this self-expression through open-ended creative art experiences! For children\, the focus on art is the process of creativity\, not the end result. This is what our focus of this session is all about…the process of Play with art (not crafts). Let’s dive into the creative world of what art is for children and how we can be more responsive to their creative needs and expressions. Say goodbye to those handprint crafts and cut-out projects that take us hours to prepare. Open-ended art is about getting messy! It’s about exploring with all our senses and having a creative outlet for thoughts\, ideas and emotions. As early childhood educators\, it’s our role to provide materials and a space for creativity and inspiration\, so the children can be mighty artists! So\, let’s explore how we can do this and ensure that children have the opportunity to enjoy the creative journey and show us their colourful world! \nObjectives:\n\nDefine creativity & art\nDifferences between crafts and open-ended art\nCreate a responsive curriculum and environment that nurtures children’s creative interests\nSpark your creativity for open-ended art experiences\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:Curiosity and Wonder of Heuristic Play and Treasure Baskets: Infant and Toddler Play Explorations
DESCRIPTION:Curiosity and Wonder of Heuristic Play and Treasure Baskets: Infant and Toddler Play Explorations\nInfants and Toddles explore the world around them with awe and wonder. They explore with a zest for curiosity and exploration. They deserve an environment that supports this natural process of learning. They deserve Play! Creating responsive environments for infants and toddlers is slightly different then how we would create a responsive environment for older children. We need to take into consideration their physical\, sensory and neurological needs. One of the most impactful way of supporting infants and toddlers in their play explorations is through heuristic play and treasure baskets! This approach creates hands-on\, self-directed play experiences for children to dive deep into their own learning process. Let’s discuss what heuristic play is and how we can create treasure baskets and sensory experiences that are meaningful and relevant for our young learners. Participants will develop an awareness of this approach to play and engage in reflective practices and discussions about how they can make children’s learning visible. Go beyond a basic infant toddler space and create a space of magic\, wonder and inspiration! \nObjectives:\n\nIdentify the Importance of Play for Infants and Toddlers\nHeuristic Play Approach\nCreating Treasure Baskets\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:Approaches to Play Exploring Play Schemas
DESCRIPTION:Approaches to Play: Exploring Play Schemas\n\n\n\n\n“Why do they keep throwing things?!”“I don’t know how to capture children’s interests… they’re just playing.”“They keep doing the same thing over and over!”“What do you mean spinning in circles is Play?!” \nIf these questions sound familiar\, you’re not alone. Many early childhood educators wonder about the behaviours they see every day—behaviours that are often rich with meaning. To understand them\, we need to look more closely at how children play and what those actions are telling us. That’s where schematic play comes in. \nIn this workshop\, we will explore the powerful lens of play schemas and how they help us interpret children’s interests\, patterns\, and behaviours. We’ll dive into common schemas such as trajectory\, rotation\, transporting\, enveloping\, enclosing\, positioning\, connecting\, transforming\, and more. Through observation\, reflection\, and hands-on examples\, we’ll practice identifying possible play schemas and brainstorm responsive ways to support\, extend\, and scaffold these play invitations. \nWhen we begin to see the stories embedded in children’s actions\, play comes alive—illuminating their thinking\, curiosity\, and drive to explore. Together\, we’ll toss ideas around\, spin a few strategies\, and piece them all together in a session designed to reignite your wonder for play. \nLet’s unravel the meaning behind children’s play… and have some fun while we’re at it! \nWorkshop Goals:  \n\nIdentify the meaning and value of schematic play and play schemas\nExamine the various play schemas observed in early childhood environments\nCreate responsive practices to support children in various play schemas\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding and RT funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:The Me\, The You\, The We: Facilitating Social-Emotional Learning
DESCRIPTION:The Me\, The You\, The We: Facilitating Social-Emotional Learning\nFeelings! Feelings! And more Feelings! The everyday struggle of identifying and understanding big emotions is a tough gig for young children. It’s all so hard! But with the right positive support and environment\, children can thrive and build the skills required to manage these big emotions. SEL\, Social Emotional Learning\, is all about understanding the self and then understanding others to be a positive member of our community. These skills can be woven into our everyday practices and play experiences. Knowing what skills children are developing and how will be the key to successfully supporting children on this learning journey.  Together\, we will be able to identify specific strategies to support each main component of social-emotional learning: self-awareness\, self-management\, social awareness\, relationship skills and responsible decision-making skills. Let’s get together and learn how we can provide a place of vitality so every child can build the skills needed in SEL! \nWorkshop Goals: \n\nDefine social-emotional learning\nIdentify the importance of SEL\nReview strategies to promote each component in SEL\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding and RT funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:Exploring Hygge: Creating Spaces that Foster Happiness\, a Sense Belonging and Togetherness
DESCRIPTION:Exploring Hygge: Creating Spaces that Foster Happiness\, a Sense Belonging and Togetherness\nHygge. A Danish term that encompasses a way of living that promotes happiness\, joy\, coziness\, and a sense of belonging. Does this sound familiar? It’s similar to what we want children to feel and experience when they walk into our early childhood spaces. Exploring cultures to enhance our early learning environments is one way we can create responsive spaces that promote a sense of well-being\, a sense of belonging\, and a sense of togetherness. Let’s explore hygge together as we capture the warmth of materials\, lighting\, sounds\, and feelings. During my journey with hygge\, I have found seven main elements that we can bring into our early learning environments to create this cozy feeling for children: lighting\, softness\, warmth\, nature\, simplicity\, being present\, and a sense of belonging.  Hygge isn’t one specific thing\, but how it helps us feel and the memories it stirs or creates. SUMMARY:NEW! Fostering Autonomy\, Agency and Independence in the Early Years!
DESCRIPTION:Fostering Autonomy\, Agency and Independence in the Early Years! Empowering Young Children Through Choice\, Voice\, and Confident Action \nThis dynamic and thought-provoking workshop explores how early childhood educators can intentionally nurture autonomy\, agency\, and independence in young children. Grounded in the principles of rights-based\, responsive pedagogy\, participants are invited to reflect deeply on their current practices and beliefs\, examining how this impacts the ways children experience choice\, voice\, and freedom in their daily lives. Participants are provoked to examine how everyday moments—such as routines\, transitions\, and play—can become powerful opportunities for children to make choices\, express themselves\, and develop confidence in their abilities. \nTogether\, we explore how fostering agency is not about giving children control over everything\, but rather co-creating an environment where children are seen as capable\, competent\, and powerful contributors to their own learning and community. Through storytelling\, reflective dialogue\, and practical examples\, educators are encouraged to think critically about their role in co-creating environments that promote children’s voices and participation. The session highlights that autonomy and agency are not simply outcomes to achieve\, but ongoing processes that unfold through responsive relationships\, shared decision-making\, and meaningful engagement. Educators will feel empowered to transform everyday moments into meaningful opportunities for children to lead\, make choices\, and be recognized as confident\, competent members of their learning. \nWorkshop Goals: \n\nUnderstanding independence\, autonomy\, collective autonomy and agency\nStrategies to support children’s development of independence\, autonomy and agency\nDesign environments\, routines\, and relationships that actively support children’s growing autonomy and sense of capability.\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding and RT funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:NEW! Cultivating Safety in Early Childhood Programs: Responsive & Reflective Active Supervision
DESCRIPTION:Cultivating Safety in Early Childhood Programs: Responsive & Reflective Active Supervision \nActive supervision is more than watching children—it is an intentional\, relational\, and reflective practice that honours the image of the child as capable\, resourceful\, and worthy of safety\, trust\, and belonging. In this workshop\, safety is explored through a three-fold lens: physical\, mental\, and emotional. Participants will examine how responsive\, active supervision nurtures children’s well-being across all three dimensions while supporting their right to play\, explore\, and take developmentally appropriate risks. Through collaborative dialogue\, scenario analysis\, and guided reflection\, participants will examine how active supervision is woven into the everyday moments of play and relational care. Educators will create intentional action plans to overcome supervision obstacles in their day-to-day practices. Educators will leave with enhanced strategies\, refined practices\, and a practical Supervision Action Plan tailored to their early learning and childcare environment. \nWorkshop Goals \nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will: \n\nDevelop an individualized Supervision Action Plan that supports safe\, intentional\, and responsive early learning environments.\nEnhance policies and practices to strengthen the implementation of active supervision strategies.\nDeepen confidence and competence in noticing\, interpreting\, and responding to children’s play and interactions in ways that uphold their rights\, agency\, and well-being.\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding and RT funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:Curiosity and Wonder of Treasure Baskets: Infant and Toddler Play Explorations
DESCRIPTION:Curiosity and Wonder of Treasure Baskets: Infant and Toddler Play Explorations \nInfants and Toddlers explore the world around them with awe and wonder. One of the most impactful ways of supporting infants and toddlers in their play explorations is through heuristic play and treasure baskets! This approach fosters hands-on\, self-directed play experiences that enable children to delve deeply into their own learning process. \nWorkshop Goals \nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will: \n\nIdentify the Importance of Play for Infants and Toddlers\nHeuristic Play Approach\nCreating Treasure Baskets\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding and RT funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:Observing Play with Intention: Enriching your Skills in Observations with the Emergent Curriculum Approach
DESCRIPTION:Observing Play with Intention: Enriching your Skills in Observations with the Emergent Curriculum Approach \nEver take the time to sit back and simply observe children playing? The conversations they have\, even by themselves. They show curiosity when they are exploring something new. The expressions of satisfaction when they are deep in thought in play and when they reach a personal goal. These observations of play tell us so much about the children’s perspective and learning journey\, that we need to write this down and capture it! There are so many discoveries and ‘ah-ha’ moments throughout the day that it’s sometimes difficult for us to figure out what to write down though. So let’s learn together as we discuss strategies of intentional observations and practice how to conduct intentional observations that assist us in enriching our environment by implementing Play and the emergent curriculum approach. \nWorkshop Goals \nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will: \n\nIdentify the roots to the emergent curriculum approach\nReview tips and tricks for effective observations\nImplement strategies to improve observation techniques\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding and RT funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. SUMMARY:NEW! Nurturing Self-Regulation in Early Childhood: Co-Regulation\, Connection and Calming Practices for Big Emotions
DESCRIPTION:Nurturing Self-Regulation in Early Childhood: Co-Regulation\, Connection and Calming Practices for Big Emotions \nYoung children experience big emotions\, rapid transitions\, and stressors they cannot yet name or manage on their own. This interactive workshop—rooted in Stuart Shanker’s self-regulation approach—helps educators understand the roots of stress behaviour\, the difference between misbehaviour and stress responses\, and the essential role of co-regulation in fostering emotional safety. \nGrounded in the belief that play thrives when children feel safe\, regulated\, and connected\, this workshop highlights how co-regulation and supportive environments lay the foundation for both well-being and meaningful play. Through hands-on activities\, reflection\, and practical demonstrations\, educators will learn how to create spaces where children can return to calm\, re-engage in play\, and build the emotional resilience needed for healthy development. \nParticipants will design calming kits\, plan intentional calming spaces\, and develop personalized co-regulation action plans that enhance daily routines. By the end\, educators will feel equipped to nurture environments that support self-regulation\, strengthen relationships\, and promote both well-being and joyful\, confident play. \nWorkshop Goals \nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will: \n\nDevelop a foundational understanding of self-regulation and stress behaviour across the five domains (biological\, emotional\, cognitive\, social\, and prosocial).\nEnhance co-regulation practices by learning how adult presence\, tone\, environment\, and attuned responses help children feel safe\, supported\, and ready to engage in play.\nCreate practical tools—calming kits\, calming spaces\, and a co-regulation action plan that collectively support children’s wellbeing and empower them to return to calm and re-enter play with confidence.\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding and RT funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop.
