DESCRIPTION:NEW! Indigenous Learning Series \nInspired Minds ECC is excited to announce our brand new learning opportunity  “Indigenous Learning Series” for early childhood educators. Inspired Minds ECC is pleased to welcome our guest presenter for these sessions\, Sherry Duncan\, as she shares with us her vast knowledge and experiences of Indigenous ways of knowing and being and early childhood. \nEvery month\, from August to December 2024\, we will invite you to join us for these learning sessions. \nNEW! National Child Day – Conventions on the Rights of the Child \nNovember 20th was National Child Day which celebrates the United Nations Declaration of the Rights of the Child and the adoption of the UN Convention of the Rights of the Child in 1989.  We will explore how we\, as early childhood educators\, do our part to support the rights of all children in our care.  We will look at the story of Shannen Koostachin who had a dream about making sure that First Nations children and youth have the same educational opportunities. We will discuss how we\, as a society\, are meeting the rights of Indigenous children. \nUsing the Conventions on the Rights of the Child we will focus on the 4 groups of rights for children and how we meet these in our early childhood spaces; \n\nSurvival Rights\nDevelopment Rights\nProtection rights\nParticipation rights\n\nUpcoming Webinars in our Indigenous Learning Series: \n\nWednesday\, November 27\, 2024: National Child Day – Conventions on the Rights of the Child\nWednesday\, December 18\, 2024: Voices of Tradition; Weaving indigenous literacy into your early childhood space(Registration Required for each session)\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. Please click the link 10 minutes before the workshop begins to join in.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nE-transfers to be sent to tina@inspiredmindsecc.ca\n\nZoom link is included in your ticket email.
