DESCRIPTION:NEW! Indigenous Learning Series \nInspired Minds ECC is excited to announce our brand new learning opportunity  “Indigenous Learning Series” for early childhood educators. Inspired Minds ECC is pleased to welcome our guest presenter for these sessions\, Sherry Duncan\, as she shares with us her vast knowledge and experiences of Indigenous ways of knowing and being and early childhood. \nEvery month\, from August to December 2024\, we will invite you to join us for these learning sessions. \nNEW! Every Child Matters: Becoming an Ally  \nThe impact of colonization on Indigenous people in Canada is embedded in memory\, history and story. Relationship is a key value in First Nation’s cultures; one must at all times recognize the value and demonstrate respect and a willingness to discover and honour uniqueness in a relationship\, whether it is with people\, land\, creatures\, or the Creator. This session will explore the following; \n\nResidential Schools – A short history lesson\n94 Calls to Action – A summary\nOrange Shirt Day – background and how to celebrate in Early Learning Spaces\nAn introduction to reconciliation – based on the idea of restoring friendship and harmony – resolving differences and accepting the past and working together to build a better future. We will also explore how to support children in learning about reciprocity – a deep rooted value in Indigenous communities.\n\nUpcoming Webinars in our Indigenous Learning Series: \n\nWednesday\, September 25\, 2024: Every Child Matters: Becoming an Ally\nWednesday\, October 30\, 2024: Roots & Routes – Journey into land wisdom\nWednesday\, November 27\, 2024: National Child Day – Conventions on the Rights of the Child\nWednesday\, December 18\, 2024: Voices of Tradition; Weaving indigenous literacy into your early childhood space\n(Registration Required for each session)\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop.
