DESCRIPTION:No Waiting! Get Them Shaking! Exploring and Extending Engaging Transitions \nI can picture it as clearly as if it were happening right now—children wiggling\, climbing\, and weaving around one another as we navigate snow pants\, jackets\, and boots. The scene feels chaotic\, overwhelming… and all too familiar. Transitions are hard. Whether it’s the legendary “clean-up time\,” heading outdoors\, coming back inside\, shifting from lunch to rest time\, or supporting new children as they adjust to group care\, transitions often challenge even the most seasoned educators. \nBut they don’t have to. When we pause\, become present\, and approach transitions with intentionality\, we can transform these moments from stressful to successful—for both educators and children. Young children are not designed to sit still and wait; they are designed to move\, explore\, and connect. So how do we create transitions that honour their needs\, spark engagement\, and strengthen relationships? How do we shift transitions from a time of direction-giving to a time of meaningful connection? \nIn this workshop\, we will explore practical\, engaging strategies that help children navigate transitions with confidence and joy. Together\, we’ll reflect on our daily schedules\, examine how routines shape transition success\, and discover playful tools that educators can implement immediately. And yes—we’ll sing\, play\, and dance our way through brand-new transition ideas designed to capture children’s attention and ignite their imagination. \nLet’s rethink transitions together. Let’s do this! \nWorkshop Goals \nBy the end of this workshop\, participants will: \n\nEstablish an understanding of why effective transitions are important to child development.\nIdentify strategies that support the 3 phases of effective transitions – before\, during and after.\nDevelop a daily visual routine for children to help them with transitions.\nLearn new transition songs\, games and tools to use during transitions.\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding and RT funding available to eligible participants.\nCertificate of participation will be available to registered participants.\nAll registered participants will have 30 days access to the webinar recording.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop. Please click the link 10 minutes before the workshop begins to join in.\nAll tickets are non-refundable.
