DESCRIPTION:Lunch & Learn: Anti-Biased Celebrations \nWelcome to our NEW Lunch and Learn webinars! These are mini online community webinars that give you some effective strategies you can implement right away! Lunch and Learn webinars are only 30 minutes and are offered over the lunch hour of 12:30-1:00PM. Each month we will present a different topic that aims to enhance your knowledge and teaching practices as early childhood educators. \nOctober 17\, 2023: Anti-Biased Celebrations \nHow do we celebrate with children and families holiday events that are important to them? Do we do them or not? This seems to be a continued question amongst educators and programs. Let’s chat about it! How can we ensure we respect the values and traditions of families during important events. Learning about how families celebrate different events help children learn about themselves\, their community and the world around them. It’s our approach and implementation of these practices that make a difference! Join me as we chat about how various educators and programs have embraced an anti-biased approach with holidays. What has worked for them and what they have learned from their mistakes. DESCRIPTION:Observing Play with Intention: Enriching your Emergent Curriculum Approach \nEver take the time to sit back and simply observe children playing? The conversations they have\, even by themselves. The curiosity they show when they are exploring something new. The expressions of satisfaction when they are deep in thought in play and when they reach a personal goal. These observations of play tell us so much about the children’s perspective and learning journey\, that we need to write this down and capture it! There are so many discoveries and ‘ah-ha’ moments throughout the day that it’s sometimes difficult for us to figure out what to write down though. So let’s learn together as we discuss strategies of intentional observations and practice how to conduct intentional observations that assist us in enriching our environment by implementing Play and the emergent curriculum approach. \nObjectives: \n\nIdentify the roots to emergent curriculum approach\nReview tips and tricks for effective observations\nImplement strategies to improve observation techniques\n\nThings to Keep in Mind: \n\nRegistration closes 24 hours in advance!\nPD funding available to eligible participants.\nThis workshop will be held online through the Zoom platform.\nYou will need access to a smartphone\, laptop\, tablet or computer with audio capabilities to join us.\nA link will be emailed to you 24 hours prior to the workshop.
