Please help us raise more funds for this wonderful charity, Kids Kottage, in various ways! Our goal is to raise $5000 for Kids Kottage this year! It helps us make this goal achievable!

Individual Walk Registrations

Build a Team!

Get together with your co-workers or other passionate early childhood educators and walk as a team! Each team member will identify what team they are walking with. Invite families to sponsor your team to raise funds!

Sponsor a Walker/Team

Invite friends, family, local businesses, and co-workers to sponsor you! They can donate to Kids Kottage under your name. The top 10 individuals with the most funds raised will win a FREE webinar with Inspired Minds ECC!

Know someone who wants to help out for this event by giving us a donation? Fantastic! General donations are also accepted to help us reach our goal for Kids Kottage.

All sponsors/donations go to Kids Kottage and will receive a tax receipt with the charity number for Kids Kottage.

Event Information

Inspired Minds ECC is proud to support Kids Kottage Foundation. All net profits from the Protectors of Play Fun Walk will help keep children safe.

BBQ LUNCH

After the walk, all registered participants and volunteers will have a BBQ Lunch. Our BBQ lunch is unavailable for anyone who does not register for our event.

PLAY

Music, games, and entertainment are provided so that everyone has a chance to socialize and PLAY!

EVENT DAY INFORMATION

On the day...

Please arrive early so you have plenty of time to sign in, mingle with other walkers, and meet our sponsors. Sign-in starts at 10:30 AM. Grab a Protector of Play flag, some bubbles, and a kid’s kit (balloon and scavenger hunt list) for the little ones walking with you! Remember to pick up your superhero “Protector of Play cape!

Please make sure that a waiver is signed and submitted for each walker (including a waiver for young children). Parts of this trail are near the river, so please always keep children with you to ensure their safety.

Strollers and wheelchairs are welcome on this course. However, the terrain is varied (hills, paved, and unpaved trails are on this route).

This is a shared trail, so please be mindful and respectful to others using the route. Parts of this route also include an off-leash area for dogs. Please be respectful to animals and people using the trail.

Please bring your own water bottles. A water refill station will be available at the main site.

Washrooms are available on-site.

Before the Walk...

Our MC will welcome everyone and get us warmed up for the walk. Are you ready for some dance moves?!

Start Line...

Let the bubbles start, and the capes fly as we take off on our walk with some music and fun! Come up with your best superhero ‘Protector of Play’ pose to start the walk!

On the Course...2 Loop Route!

Walk, run, dance, or meander as you enjoy the beautiful Edmonton River valley. Markers and signs will be posted along the route to help you on your way. Volunteers will be stationed on the route to offer water and cheer you on! This is a 2 loop route (2.5km each loop)!

Bring your own water bottles! We will have a water refill station for you.

At the Finish Line...

Walk through our bubble finish line back at the picnic site, where you will be cheered on and celebrated for completing the 5km walk!

After the Walk...

Hungry? Get ready for a delicious lunch with all registered walkers and our volunteers. Our great volunteer cook will cook a fabulous BBQ picnic lunch!

Enjoy some games, hula hooping, face painting, and take selfie portraits with our Protectors of Play frames. Mingle and socialize until we bring out the door prizes at the end of our day together.

Walk Route

Two loops around the gorgeous Edmonton River valley! We will cheer you on throughout the route and inspire you to keep going! Walk, Run, or Dance your way through the river valley as “Protectors of Play”!

Weather Policy

Dress for the weather! We recommend good walking shoes and a backup light jacket if it rains. We will be walking come rain or shine! However, if Mother Nature is giving us a severe thunderstorm or really poor air quality, and it’s unsafe to walk, we will contact all registered participants to let them know.

Inclusion Policy

We welcome all early childhood educators and their families, regardless of age, gender, race, or ability. A zero-tolerance policy is in place at our events to ensure everyone feels welcome.

Volunteers

This event is organized and run by volunteers. They make this event happen! Please cheer on our volunteers and offer them a smile and a thank you when you see them. They will be wearing black ‘Protector of Play’ T-shirts! If you have any questions or concerns, during the event, please contact one of our volunteers to help you.
